Things To Do with Kids in Sacramento area

With all the rain recently, we realize that some of you may be having trouble finding things to do with your family when it rains. It can be challenging to find things to do with your family besides watching tv and playing games on your iPhone or iPad. Fortunately, we have some fun suggestions of things to do and places to eat  that your whole family will love.

Things To Do

The California Railroad Museum is located in Old Sacramento. You and your family can climb all over the trains and learn about the history of train travel. When you are done, you can take a walk through Old Sac. The kids will love walking through the candy stores with barrels of candy where they offer free samples. Try grabbing a meal at Luis’s Jr’s Mexican Restaurant. This family owned restaurant is known for their tacos, their enchiladas, and their homemade pork and rice soup. The seating is all indoors so it’s fine for a rainy day. Not to mention, Luis’s Jr’s Restaurant will validate your parking for $5 and it’s good for either of the Old Sacramento garages. Art Beast is an art studio in midtown where kids can create many different types of art using a variety of different mediums.

In the north area of Natomas, you’ll find Climbaroo, an indoor play center with climbing structures, jumps, slides, and tunnels that is a great place for kids to burn off energy on a rainy day. Climbaroo has a little cafe next to the indoor play area where you can buy simple foods like hot dogs and pizza and some simple snacks. Nearby, The Waffle Experience and Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse are two places that you can go to grab a bite to eat after your kids are done playing. The Waffle Experience is known for their waffles and their awesome breakfasts, including their Benedict Arnold. Pete’s has a variety of beers on tap and is known for their pizza, their Pete’s Deluxe Burger, and their buffalo wings.

There are a few franchises with multiple locations in our area that are noteworthy to mention. Those of you in Roseville and Rancho Cordova will want to check out Wacky Tacky in these respective cities, each of which has a large indoor playground with jumps, slides, tunnels, and a variety of things to do. Color Me Mine is a studio which allows you to paint your own pottery and there are locations in Roseville, Folsom, and Elk Grove. They have many different kinds of items to paint from bowls and plates to picture frames and piggy banks. The items that you paint at Color Me Mine tend to make great gifts.

Things To DoFor those of you who live in the south area, we suggest you check out Rockin Jump in Elk Grove. This fun trampoline park features an Open Jump Arena, a Dodgeball Arena, a Slam Dunk Zone, a Vertigo Climbing Tower (rock climbing), and a Stunt Bag Arena. Every single day there is a large window of open jump time for everyone. On weekdays the open jump time is 3pm to 8pm. Fridays they have Rockin Fridays from 8pm to 10pm. Saturdays they have Rockin Saturdays from 8pm to 10pm.

Then when you want to grab a bite to eat Elk Grove has a variety of family friendly restaurants for your family. The Old Spaghetti Factory is always good. We also suggest checking out Old Town Pizzeria for the Chuck Norris pizza and their buffalo wings. Blast 825 pizza is also another great choice. For about $8.50 you can get your own personal pizza with any sauce and all the toppings you want.

Things To DoIt would be a crime not to include the Sacramento Children’s Museum in our list of places to visit on a rainy day. Kids can paint in the Community Art Studio, explore the Augmented Reality Sandbox, check out the Waterways exhibit, shop at Leo’s Market and Farmer’s Market, explore gravity, motion, acceleration, and velocity at Airways Raceways, or practice roleplaying and storytelling in My Neighborhood. The Habit Burger Grill is located less than a mile from the Sacramento Children’s Museum. If you don’t feel like having one of their famous Charburgers, you can also try their Chicken or Tuna Filet Sandwiches or the Super Food Salad with baby and garden lettuce, quinoa, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots or the BBQ Chicken Salad made with BBQ chicken, bacon, fresh romaine, tomatoes, and sliced onions.

Hopefully, we have given you a bunch of ideas for things to do and kid-friendly restaurants to eat at with your family on a rainy day. The next time there is a downpour in Sacramento area, you can have a fun, family bonding experience and beat the rainy day blues with your kids!
